How It Works

Air operated diaphragm pump built for difficult liquids

An AODD pump uses compressed air to move two diaphragms in alternating strokes. This creates suction and discharge without mechanical seals, making the pump suitable for leak-sensitive, abrasive, viscous and corrosive fluids.

Sando air operated double diaphragm pump mechanism

Self-priming operation

Starts without flooding the suction line and supports negative suction conditions in many transfer duties.

Sealless fluid chamber

No rotating mechanical seal, reducing leakage risk when handling chemicals, solvents and process liquids.

Dry-run tolerant

AODD pumps can tolerate short dry-running events, useful for drum emptying and batch transfer.

Hazardous-duty friendly

Pneumatic drive avoids electric motor placement near fluid transfer points where correct configuration permits.

Solids and slurry handling

Large flow paths and check valves help move sludge, suspended solids and abrasive media.

Controlled flow output

Flow can be adjusted by air pressure and air volume, making installation and process tuning straightforward.

Choose Metallic or Non-Metallic AODD pumps by MOC

Use the tab buttons to compare the two main AODD pump constructions. The right choice depends on chemical compatibility, abrasion, temperature, conductivity, mechanical strength and safety requirements.

Metallic AODD pump for industrial transfer

Metallic AODD Pumps

Heavy-duty pump construction for oils, paints, solvents, hydrocarbons, effluent, slurry and demanding industrial transfer. Metallic bodies provide mechanical strength, grounding benefits and long operating life in rugged plants.

Body MOC Aluminium, SS304, SS316, SS316L, Super Duplex

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about AODD pumps

Quick answers for buyers comparing air operated double diaphragm pumps by working principle, application, price, material and available sizes.

What is an Air Operated Double Diaphragm (AODD) Pump?

An Air Operated Double Diaphragm pump is a positive displacement pump that uses compressed air and two flexible diaphragms to transfer liquids without a mechanical seal.

How does an AODD pump work?

Compressed air alternately moves two diaphragms. One diaphragm creates suction and draws liquid into the chamber, while the other pushes liquid out through check valves.

What are the advantages of using an AODD pump?

AODD pumps are self-priming, dry-run tolerant, sealless and simple to control with air pressure. They are suitable for corrosive, abrasive, viscous and solids-laden fluids.

In which industries are AODD pumps used?

AODD pumps are used in chemical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, paint and ink, wastewater, mining, ceramics, oil and gas, and general process industries.

What is the price of an AODD pump in India?

AODD pump price in India depends on pump size, material of construction, diaphragm material, flow requirement, accessories and application duty. Share your process details for an accurate quote.

Who is the best AODD pump manufacturer in India?

Sando Rotary Equipments PVT LTD manufactures metallic and non-metallic AODD pumps in India with application support for chemical, slurry, wastewater and process transfer duties.

What fluids can an AODD pump handle?

An AODD pump can handle chemicals, acids, alkalis, solvents, paints, inks, oils, wastewater, sludge, slurry, food liquids, pharma intermediates and viscous liquids when selected with compatible wetted parts.

What sizes are available for Sando AODD pumps?

Sando AODD pumps are available from 1/2 inch to 3 inch connection sizes, with metallic and non-metallic constructions selected according to flow, pressure and fluid compatibility.
